Many hosting companies today provide programs such as Webalizer or AWStats for statistical purposes. With an unlimited hosting service, this feature enables you to know more the information about each of your domain and subdomain.
Some of the information are Daily and Hourly Usage, Top URLs, Top Entry Pages, Top Exit Pages, Top Referrers, Top Search Strings and Top Countries that have visited your website.
Some hosting companies such as Hostony even provide several stats programs. Besides Webalizer, Hostony also use Awstats. There is also information about the amount of bandwidth that has been used for each of your domain. Additionally by accessing Error Log you can locate errors (e.g. missing links, missing images, scripting errors) in your sites and then fix them.
By looking at your stats a few minutes a week you can see what web pages are most popular, how long people are staying at your site, and what files ate up your bandwidth. You can use this information to make changes to your site and anything else that will encourage people to stay longer and to come back.
