Registering Domain Names with NameCheap

May 7th, 2007 by admin

As one of the most domain registrars available today, NameCheap.com allows a webmaster to purchase cheap domain names. Currently the price for a .com domain is only $8.88 with the bonus of free whois protection (WhoisGuard) for one year. This offer is more interesting because you can get the free whois protection even if you only buy one domain. The price for a .info domain name is also much cheaper than many other companies. But although the prices offered are relatively cheaper, another popular registrar, GoDaddy, offers free extras such as free hosting with web site builder for every new domain name you purchase.

I can not tell you how good is NameCheap at the moment because I have just tried their service. But I believe both of them (NameCheap and Godaddy) have different advantages and disadvantages. One of the features I like most which is provided by GoDaddy is the “Status Alert” feature where you will get an email everytime something happens to your domain name. For example the alert will work in case there is someone changes the DNS addresses of a domain name. In addition I know the quality of their customer support who is quite fast and helpfull. The protection provided by Domains By Proxy also works well so far to stay away from spam messages. Of course everyone might have different views about both companies. However if you intend to host multiple websites, it would be a good idea to purchase domain names from both of them and use another hosting companies that supports for multiple websites under one hosting account such as Hostony or Hostgator.
